On December 15th the kick-off meeting of the eBIZ 4.0 project was held in Elche (Alicante), Spain (here the press release) eBIZ 4.0 is project funded by the European Commission, call COS-DESIGN-2015-3-06, topic COS-2015-DESIGN-2.
ObjectiveseBIZ-4.0 tackles the challenges of one out of the enabling technologies for Industry 4.0, RFID and NFC integrated to Internet of Things (IOT) devices, that are related to digitalisation of the relationships of the supply chains by using data exchange standard. eBIZ-4.0 aims at supporting the adoption of RFID technologies in the textile-clothing sector, jointly to the standardised specification eBIZ, in order to allow firms to manage logistics and goods traceability (for example by having immediate information about inventory, orders and geographic position of the goods). This objective is pursued through the commercialisation of intelligent services based on eBIZ for data exchange between IT systems of the factories, integrated with planning and production systems (ERP, EMS), RFID deivices for logistics and the adoption of business models that can be similar to those of Open Source. In these models value is not in the software but in the built-upon services. In the case of the project values come not from the adopted standards and the components that facilitate their usage, but from the complex built-upon solutions.
eBIZ 4.0 activitiesThanks to eBIZ-4.0 extensions and improvements to the standardised specifications will be studied and experienced also towards areas of the textile clothing industry not deeply studied before: for example RFID usage in the inter-company logistics. The project has an overall budget of around € 1.5 million in 24 months and has been awarded a 50% costs co-funding by the European Commission through the programme COSME which supports the SMEs competitivenes. The new project pools together competences from core eBIZ stakeholders such as Euratex and Enea with those of leading IT companis specialised in the fashion value chain, namelly: Schaeffer Productique in France, KYKLOS in Italy and CLAVEi based in Spain and which is the project coordinator.
Industrial pilotsThe project plans eBIZ+RFID implementations in three key areas of the textile production in Europe: France, Spain and Italy. The solutions developed in the eBIZ 4.0 project will be applied by at least 100 companies, including textile, clothing, footwear producers and retailers to improve product traceability, time to market, warehouse management and digital data exchange with suppliers throughout the supply chain.
