The first phase of WS eBIZ: Identification of new requirements and domains

Gap analysis and new requirement collection: January 2012 - January 2013

On Task 1 of WS eBIZ a Gap Analysis of the state of the art and requirements for the digital supply chain in the Textile/Clothing and Footwear Sectors was accomplished.
It also cover the current barriers to adoption of eBusiness, in the sectors particularly amongst SMEs (small and medium enterprises), and the requirements for wider adoption throughout Europe.

The Gap analysis were easily accessible becoming a registered members of the Workshop.


Recommendations have been made for modifications and additions to the eBIZ-TCF Reference Architecture (RA) to be carried out in subsequent task 2.

Contributions on any of the topics listed below were welcome from all Workshop registered participants and from any other interested organisation.

  • Information concerning eBusiness projects or initiatives in the European fashion sectors not included in the eBIZ-TCF Reference Architecture (RA).
  • Comments or suggestions for modifications or additions to the Downstream (Producer to Retailer) Business Processes in the RA.
  • Comments or suggestions for modifications or additions to the Upstream (Manufacturing Networks) Business Processes for the Textile/Clothing Sectors in the RA.
  • Comments or suggestions for modifications or additions to the Upstream (Manufacturing Networks) Business Processes for the Footwear Sector in the RA.
  • Comments or suggestions for modifications or additions to the Middleware and Communications layers of the RA.
  • Contributions for the inclusion of logistics processes in the RA.
  • Contributions for the inclusion of eInvoicing in the RA.
  • Information concerning the use of RFID technology for product identification in the sectors.
  • Information concerning the use of RFID technology in the flow of goods in the supply chain in the sectors.
  • Information concerning Product Classification systems in the sectors.
  • Contributions concerning the barriers to interoperability between eBusiness systems in the sectors.
  • Contributions concerning the barriers to the adoption of eBusiness in the sectors.
  • Contributions about the requirements for wider adoption of eBusiness in the sectors.

The Gap Analysis document was the basis for the second phase, Reference Architecture update
